What Jobs Can I Get On Cruise Ship With No Experience?

A lot of people who are considering a job on a cruise ship are usually straight out of school or young people looking to experience the world - but are basically unskilled when it comes to specific jobs. Is it possible to get a job on a cruise ship with no experience, and if so - how hard is it?

I guess the important thing to start off with is that yes, you can get a job on a cruise ship without having any specific experience - but it does limit the jobs that you will be able to apply for. Let me highlight a couple of the jobs available on a cruise ship that usually require no experience.

1. House Keeping
In this position you are responsible for the cleaning duties of the house keeping department. This position allows for promotion into other fields.


2. Dish Washer
This position means that you are literally a human dishwasher. It is your job to clean and store all guest cutlery and crockery, as well as all pots and pans.

3. General Staff
General staff is basically a bit of everything. It is your job to take over from other staff when they are feeling sick - so a large degree of flexibility is important in this position.

4. Shop Assistant
If you would prefer to work in one of the ships on board stores then maybe a shop assistant position would be well suite for you.

These are just a selection of the available jobs for people with experience looking for work on a cruise ship, but is definitely not an exhaustive list.



There are a lot of opportunities for those looking for jobs on cruises. One of the major cruise lines P&O Cruises are also one of the largest employers of workers on these ships and would be a great place to consider applying for.
